Kerstin Hedman rör sig med samlade måleriska fält. Hon använder akrylfärg, men gärna med plexiglas som underlag. Hedman arbetar med kvadratiska färgfält som rymmer variationer i ytan, vilka tillåter vissa figurer att stiga fram. Det kan vara en kontrast mellan mattare och klarare toner, ett rutmönster. Ibland låter hon även underlagets genomskinlighet få en viktig del. Även Hedman ligger närmare det amerikanska efterkrigsmåleriet än traditionell konstruktivism. Ändå blir inte målningarna ´till stumma objekt som hos många minimalister. De industriella materialen handlar inte om en vilja till perfektion. Hedmans monokroma färgfält har getts  strukturer som låter betraktaren dröja kvar.

Kerstin Hedman works in acrylics on plexiglass and employs a richly variegated palette to producea fi ne balance of surface and depth.
This in itself not particularly unusual, but more often than not she has succeeded in breaking away from what might have otherwise been a systematic approach, to unearth her own idiom in which almost imperceptible shifts of color meld to form an aesthetic unity.
Her work is at its most intriguing at the point where the painting has toned down to the absolute minimal, the truly pure.
This is where she discovers subtle tension in the most frigile of lines. I peep at the a light, almost monochrome, surface and through the discreet elegant shades of pigment become increasingly aware of how this surface deepens and fi nally opens itself onto infi nity.
